Mamy Poko in Sydney

When people come a visiting, they often ask what we want. Well, since the coming of Number Two, my answer is Mamy Poko diapers! I am not one to wake up in the middle of the night to change diapers, and while my two boys were babies, I depended on Mamy Pokos to do the job of keeping them dry 12 hours through the night. Pampers, Huggies, all those brands are heavy on marketing, but actually cannot hold a candle to Japanese diapers in terms of quality.

During my brother-in-law's trip here, he brought Mamy Poko diapers in his luggage. But of course, I ran out of the diapers pretty soon and had to go look for them in Sydney because we discovered that Number 3's skin is super sensitive and needs all that moisture to be whisked away. She fared much better with Mamy Poko, but when they ran out and I switched to Huggies, her skin was all red.

Google to the rescue! I found a blog where an apparently equally desperate mum rang up Unicharm (distributor of Mamy Pokos) to ask if she could buy Mamy Pokos here in Sydney, and was told that BabyLove, a brand commonly found in Woolies and Coles, is a product of theirs. After reading positive reviews, I went out and bought some. They are good, better and cheaper than Huggies, and look just like Mamy Pokos. They are now my day diapers but they still can't pass the night test.

Then I found out that you can buy Japanese diapers here online, and I bought diapers made for the Japanese market by Unicharm, called Moony. (I also tested out their other Japanese diaper brands but still preferred Unicharm's product). Problem solved!

So, the short answer is, to anyone who is looking for Mamy Poko in Sydney... buy Moony from an online store. I've ordered from and and both are reliable.
