Wildlife at Hornsby Park

...continued from the Hornsby Park bushwalk...

At Hornsby Park, Hubs sighted a kookaburra. It obligingly let him follow it around with a camera.

What lovely eyes, wouldn't you say?

Not 100 metres into the bushwalk, I saw these huge ants milling about. Check out those pincers!

This one, I nearly trod on. At the last second, I noticed this furry red thing wriggling across the path.

We followed it on, curious to see it's 'head'

From googling, I gather that it is called a Hairy Mary caterpillar, a member of the Anthelidae moth family, found only in Australia and New Guinea.
