Mona Vale's rock pool

I love rock pools. They are quite common throughout the New South Wales beaches. As the name suggests, they are encased in rock, are built right by the ocean and effortlessly blend in to nature. These tidal pools let bathers immerse in seawater and allow the waves to wash in, lending the illusion of swimming in the ‘wild’, but within the relative safety of a contained area.

These pix look out to the sea from the rock pool at Mona Vale. I like to sit by the edge of the pool and watch the tides come in and wash out.

These are seaweed along the side of the pool - they give the ocean floor dazzling colours and do a little dance as the waves sweep in.
