Winterfest medieval carnival - show and tell

Intermission over. Back to part 2 of the medieval carnival...

There were a few groups that demonstrated different types of sword play, weapons and armour from different eras. They battled each other, encouraged by the rhythmic thump, thump, thump of blades banging on shields. (Number One and Two joined along, hitting their wooden swords on the shields in approval). Of the groups, I like the barbarians best. They were always in character, knew how to play the crowd and seemed to be having a jolly time living out their childhood fantasies. Reminded me of Hub's signature "Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional." Perfect for men.

There was several rounds of charging, yelling, roaring, slamming and clanging of swords.

And of course, this all ends with a bellowed "Do you yield?!"

Winterfest do you yield

Knights took part in jousting competitions...

This fellow really looks the part, doesn't he?

As does his noble steed.

There were also samurais and ninjas about, though we didn't catch sight of the ninjas.
